光芒本季觀眾人數大幅衰退的原因

原因分析有幾個, 有一些我們早就知道了:
1.嚴重的經濟衰退: 整個地區主要的產業以建築業以及旅遊業為主, 目前的失業率超過10%, 未充分就業率則超過20%.
2.聖彼得堡的城市發展早在20世紀中期, 導致城市中大眾捷運嚴重不足, 居民主要的移動方式是透過汽車.
3.很多球迷認為2011對光芒是重建年, 尤其當球隊失去了Crawford以及Garza之後.
4.該地區最熱門的運動是美式足球, 就連Tampa Bay Buccaneers(坦帕灣海盜,  美式足球NFL其中一隊, 2002年拿過Super Bowl Championship)票房也在衰退中.
5.Tampa Bay Buccaneers(NFL), Tampa Bay Lightning(NHL), Tampa Bay Rays三隊都是有競爭力的球隊, 但是Rays卻是市場最小的球隊.
成軍到今年, 光芒僅在2008年是曾經營收大於支出的賺錢球季(僅賺了四百萬美金), 而該年光芒隊打進來世界大賽. 接下來的幾個月, 光芒隊的管理階層需要好好討論明年的營運策略.
所以, 對今年的team ption player以及薪資仲裁球員, 光芒迷可能不能抱太大的期望, 轉而可能要寄望交易以及FA, 來看看明年的光芒球員陣容吧!

2010 光芒ALDS 回顧

很多人對於2011 ALDS, 光芒總教頭Maddon第一戰敢派出菜鳥Moore先發感到驚訝. 而事實上Moore也不負眾望, 七局無失分的表現完封了遊騎兵,  大家或許因此會更佩服Maddon的調度, 不過身為光芒迷, 讓我們回顧一下2010的ALDS, 或許可以更清楚Maddon的想法.

2010季賽, 一樣是最後一場No.162,  一樣是光芒贏球, 一樣是一場勝差, 但這一個勝差不像今年(2011)這麼重要, 因為這僅代表美聯東區冠軍跟外卡的歸屬, 對於季後賽的資格, 並沒有太大的影響. 光芒以一場勝差, 取得美聯東區的冠軍資格, 洋基則取得外卡資格, 兩隊攜手一起進入季後賽. 而光芒季後賽的第一個對手, 跟今年一樣是美聯西區的冠軍: 遊騎兵.

2010的光芒的前兩號王牌先發, 仍然跟2011一樣, 正是Price跟Shields, 而遊騎兵的一號二號, C.J. Wilson依然在遊騎兵, 但2010的遊騎兵有一個更恐怖的王牌,Cliff Lee.

其實身為光芒迷, 並不會認為我們的Price+Shields會輸給Lee+Wilson, 但前兩戰打完, 殘酷的事實擺在眼前:

這兩場還是光芒主場, 可是感覺上, 光芒一點機會都沒有. 不但投手封鎖不住遊騎兵的炮火, 連打擊都欲振乏力, 兩場加起來共得一分, 只有八支安打. 這證明了遊騎兵已經仔細的研究了Price跟Shields的投球模式, 讓我們的王牌吃鱉不說, 打擊也沒有幫忙, 所以一開始就陷入了絕對的劣勢.

雖然第三場光芒在客場扳回來, 可是依然不是先發投手的功勞. Garza投得很辛苦, 可是一直到第八局, 光芒的打線才覺醒, 硬將比賽拉到了第四場…

到了第四場, 光芒總算有一位先發奇兵冒出頭, 那就是今年在ALDS可能沒有機會先發的Wade Davis

很不幸的, 第五場雖然回到了光芒主場, 我們對上的卻是最恐怖的Cliff Lee, 於是

2010的光芒沒有2011的光芒的韌性, 於是我們在ALDS就敗下陣來…

今年光芒沒有了Crawford, 沒有了Garza, 沒有了Ballfour, 沒有了Benoit, 沒有了Soriano, 可是遊騎兵可是沒有了Cliff Lee. 在我眼裡, Maddon不是不按理出牌, 而是已經記取了2010 ALDS的教訓, 用遊騎兵不熟悉的Moore擊敗了C.J. Wilson, 遊騎兵的好牌已經出過了, 接下來更可以看光芒先發投手陣容的表演. 如果能像今天一樣, 打擊上面Damon冒出頭, Shoppach恢復長打能力(Shoppach當年在Indians可是有一年20 HR的實績), 那光芒的奇蹟就可以繼續延續, 雖然我一直認為, 這是經過Maddon計算過後的奇蹟:-)

(啊我不是故意的XDDDD)
對遊騎兵的前兩場先發已經確認. 我不認為派Moore先發第一場是個賭注, 去年季後賽第一輪我們對上遊騎兵, 事實證明對手已經研究我們很透徹了,  而Moore在大聯盟初登板證明了他有初生之犢不畏虎的氣勢,  不但可趁機讓先發rotation休息一下, 遊騎兵對他的了解也不多, 派Moore先發第一場話題性跟欺敵能力很高, 的確是個不錯的決定.

(補充: 另外, Moore也是大聯盟史上在季賽出賽場數最少(一場), 但在季後賽先發出賽的投手)

暨"Money Ball"後, 最近又出了一本講MLB球隊經營策略的書籍, 書名是"The Extra 2%" , 這裡是Amazon的連結.

這次是講哪一隊呢? 寫在這個Blog, 當然講的就是Rays啦! 出版社是ESPN, 作者是橫跨金融記者與體育記者工作的Jonah Keri, 所以這本書的寫法, 如同副標, 似乎是從華爾街的金融策略, 來看Rays這支球隊是怎麼從最糟的戰績, 最險惡的環境挑戰(同區有兩支邪惡帝國球隊), 最後可以在三年內兩度打進季後賽.
